Summer College for High School Students

We are accepting applications for the Summer Scholars Program 2016. If you are a high school sophomore or junior you can explore your academic interests, earn college credit, interact with world-class professors and make lasting friendships at the University of Miami this summer. Residential and commuter options are available.

The Summer Scholars Program runs June 25, 2016 through July 15, 2016. Students are encouraged to apply early to reserve space in their preferred program—the early action application deadline is December 1, 2015. The priority deadline is March 1, 2016. Applications will be accepted until April 25, 2016 or until the program has reached capacity. 

As a Summer Scholar you will:

  • Earn up to six college credits in courses taught by UM faculty
  • Live on campus for an inclusive perspective—or commute
  • Attend classes with high school students from around the world
  • Choose an exciting academic specialty:
    • Aerospace, Architectural, Civil, Environmental, and Mechanical Engineering
    • Biomedical, Computer, and Electrical Engineering
    • Business, Ethics, and Leadership 
    • Crime Scene Investigation and Forensic Anthropology
    • Digital Media Production
    • Ecosystem Science and Policy
    • Exploration in Architecture
    • Filmmaking
    • Health and Medicine: Infectious Diseases, Neuroscience, Oncology, Psychiatry
    • International Relations: U.S. and the World
    • Law: Litigation and the Legal Profession
    • Sport Administration: The Business of Sport
    • Sports Medicine: Athletic Performance and Injury Management
    • Tropical Marine Biology
  •  Participate in educational field trips and fun activities and more!

2016 Tuition and Fees

Summer Scholars Program

  • Residential Program: $7,495
  • Commuter Program: $6,315
  • Marine Science Exploration Fee (marine science students only): $250

Program Deposit

To secure a place in the Summer Scholars Program, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required within two weeks of receiving an acceptance notification. The deposit is credited toward the tuition fee. The program fee balance is due by May 12th.
