Explore Academic Passions before Graduating from High School

The University of Miami Summer Scholars Program is an exciting opportunity for current high school freshmen, sophomores,and juniors to explore their academic passions and experience college life. Students selected for the three-week, credit-bearing scholarly program or two-week, non-credit UM Academies will have the opportunity to:

  • Choose from a variety of academic areas taught by UM’s distinguished faculty
  • Earn six college credits in three weeks, or experience our two-week, non-credit UM Academies
  • Live on campus for an immersive college experience, commute, or learn remotely
  • Take classes with high school peers from across the U.S. and abroad
  • Learn from a student-centered curriculum and engage in numerous hands-on activities
  • Explore UM’s rich amenities and South Florida’s unique treasures through chaperoned educational and cultural excursions, including an airboat ride in the Everglades, snorkeling in the Florida Keys, attending a Marlins game, and enjoying Miami’s beaches
  • SSP students receive a tuition savings of more than half the standard UM undergraduate cost per credit*
   
Dates: Summer Scholars: Sunday, July 4 to Friday, July 23, 2021
UM Academies: Sunday, July 4 to Friday July 16, 2021
Eligibility:

1. Minimum grade point average of 3.0 (Based on a 4.0 scale)
2. Grade Level:
Three-week Summer Scholars Program: High school sophomores and juniors
Two-week UM Academies: High school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors

Deadlines:

Early Action - December 1, 2020
Priority Application Deadline - February 1, 2021
Scholarship Application Deadline - March 1, 2021
General Application Deadline - April 30, 2021
Rolling Admissions opens May 1, 2021

*Based on the UM 2020-2021 undergraduate semester tuition and fees rate. Courses, schedules, tuition, and fees are subject to change.
